Shakhil

I've know Shakhil for only a year now, but I'm gaining the measure of the man - and as well as being a gracious person to be around, he is also a man of courageous compassion.
He presented the first session of a study day that I chaired/curated today around the topic of Dignity in Mental Health Care in the Developing World context (we had a much snappier title than that). He spoke about arriving within hours at a school in Pakistan after many of the children and some of the staff had been gunned down. For him, them, ....us...there was no possibility of sense making of this. But.....as he described a response in that situation that is helping the healing process for families and soldiers who were profoundly and devastatingly impacted by this event and it's aftermath I was moved by his and their courage that holds on to hope even in the face of evil.
