Giant Gourds

It's the Giant Pumpkin Festival weekend in the neighboring village.  Today was the "weigh in" and there were a few over 1,000 lbs and tomorrow some will be scooped out, fitted with a little motor and there will be a race on the river.  I've never attended before, but I think I may this year.  There are several who grow these squash on steroids and it can get pretty competitive, also very scientific to get them this big.
