Goldfinch

Spent a while twitching in the garden this morning; I saw a grey wagtail very briefly, a female great spotted woodpecker, 2-3 nuthatches, a blackbird bathing in the pond, a couple of robins and the usual multitude of blue tits and great tits.  Our thin tailed squirrel however is noticeably missing.  

Made the most of technology also: long facetime video call with one friend and a skype call with another.  I actually had a realtime friend visit for tea and Peter's mum joined us for dinner so its been a very very chatty day.

My leaf joke wasn't hugely popular yesterday so I offer a thought for the day instead:
