Hatching praying mantids

An interesting morning.  We were working outside, and noticed that some praying mantis nymphs had just hatched from an egg case pasted onto the wall of the garage.  There were fourteen of them, all heading in different directions.

Shortly afterwards, we were driven indoors by a violent, but short, hail storm.  When we came outside again, I didn't expect these little nymphs to have survived the onslaught, but thirteen of them were still there, just a little more spread out, and further away from the empty egg case than they had been before.  A spider's web might have been a greater threat to those heading up  towards the roof of the garage.
