New day - new beginnings

El Acebuchal - The lost village

The agenda for today included a visit to a nearby village (or hamlet), El Acebuchal. What's remarkable about this place, is the fact that in 1948  the authorities ordered the residents (some 200 people) to abandon their homes, due to the guerilla war against the Guardia Civil. The place was vacant for 50 years, until one man returned in 1998 and begun rebuilding the village. Now his family runs a successful restaurant, and we went there for a late lunch. The food is a bit "old fashion", but delicious and authentic, as it's mostly made from local ingredients.
