Marischal College

Founded as a university in 1593; re-designed as a Tudor-style quadrangle in 1837; new façade created 1891 when the adjoining Greyfriars Church was rebuilt and the 80 metre high Mitchell Tower was added, making the building held to be the second largest granite structure in the world (after the Escorial Palace near Madrid). United with King's College in 1860 to form the University of Aberdeen.
It retains one of Scotland's oldest museums and the Mitchell Hall is the venue for annual graduation ceremonies.
