Gale

So, Friday and a day with no mobile reception whatsoever. The Cap'n has been spooked by a gale warning - Force 8 later - and so we leave Gometra and cross the west side of Mull, past Fingal's cave and down the Sound of Iona to a sheltered neuk known as Tinker's Hole.
A fabulous place, but with Colonsay a couple of hours sail away, and with the weather apparently improving we had a gorgeous sail - great blue skies, but an unmistakable steeliness increasing in the skies to the west. As we scudded along the east side of Colonsay the wind got up and we finally got anchored as close inshore in a small bay that we could. Jeesus, what a night. Did it blow or not? The boat lurched on its anchor from one side to another, but held firm. Daybreak eventually arrived with no let up from the howling wind.
