Apple harvest

Today we drove to Devon to visit some dear friends who are suffering. A has just been told he has a very aggressive form of bone cancer.  The symptons appeared when he tried to lift a heavy flowerpot and pulled the muscles in the back. The pain did not go and so the inevitable tests showed this horrendous result.  He has started treatment and they have been able to fit in a holiday to France with the car.

A and G have some ancient apple trees near their house and one was laden down with these small cooking apples which have a lovely flavour. I have cut up and put many of them in the freezer for the winter to go with the blackberries for the delicous crumbles.
