The House of Commons in front of the Parliament

A new art project in Oslo by Marianne Heske.  She drove not fare from my neighborhood and saw this old house. It was abandoned, the last family living here moved out 1964.  and empty, but it had inhabited the house until 1964. She learned that Norwegian Public Roads Administration owned it, and that it should be demolished to make room for the expansion of the E18.

Heske says that these old houses seems to have no value, they will never end up in a museum. She wants to create a story and find an urban place where it could pose a stark contrast. The two buildings are built nearly the same year in the mid 1800. One represent daily life for ordinary people without power, the other one the highest power in the country.

The Parliament agreed that she could put it in front of the building since it is a tradition of placing sculptures there.  It was the Parliament's presidency that suggested to call the house "House of Commons".
A perfect name!
