Life through the lens...

By ValC

First tasting.

Clear blue sky. Temp. Reached 32C.
Morning coffee and a walk round Stellenbosch
What a beautiful town that is.
Then a drive up into the hills.
Roses, Bougainvilles, strelitzias , were just some of the flowers lining the sides of the drive way, up to the wine estate of Delaire Graff, where we had lunch.
And what a stunning lunch.
The terrace overlooking the mountains and vineyard.
See top photo.
Bottom left was my dessert , and the bottom right the strelitzias .
The view one of the beautiful ever.
After lunch we had a wine tasting.
Favourite were the rose, and Chenin blanc.
Came back with a few bottles!
So very grateful to my brother- in--law for doing the driving.
See the map for the location of the vineyard .

The following was my choice off the menu:
Free range chicken liver parfait and pan fried liver, apple and thyme compote, granola, camomile gel,and homemade brioch.

Duck confit, free range, dauphinois potatoes, pickled cabbage, sweet corn and cherry jus.

Roasted white chocolate, pickled strawberries, meringue, marshmallow, jasmine rice frozen yoghurt, red berry consommé.

What a life! I could get used to this!
