Power from the Glens

The great dam building and loch filling of the immediate pre-war and post-war period changed parts of the Highlands for ever as the book "Power from the Glens" documents well.

Not just the places though - people got power in their homes and communities and with that came a different way of living.

Yet other things remained unchanged including the immensitiy of the landscape. And with time the new constructions have blended in whilst new forests have grown.

This is the dam at the end of Loch Tarsan - the other end from the green boats. It is seen from across Loch Riddon , where the road peaks before descending to Glendaruel.

I blipped a similar, but snowy, view of Cruachan early last year.
