The Gordon Arms

A former coaching inn located in the remote middle reaches of the Yarrow Valley.   This hotel was the last meeting place in 1830 of author Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) and poet James Hogg (1770 - 1835).  Robert Burns was also a visitor.

There was a catastrophic fire on the 12th May.   A shepherd saw it burst out on the roof and dashed in to warn the guests sitting having their lunch.    With great energy, the owner has set about the restoration.

In Extra:   The burns were full today after heavy rain.
