Rapids

Light artist Kari Kola has transformed Koskipuisto Park into a grand visual ensemble that highlights the familiar surroundings for the residents in a new way. The theme for the installation is scooped from the movement of the water – the park around the rapids is lit by cold color tones and a number of lanterns hung above the flowing water will sway in the breeze and thus enhance the movement of the water. Opposite to the cold tones the surrounding red brick factory buildings will be lit with warm color tones. The installation includes an ambient soundscape.

We (the whole family) had an evening walk in the park, and it felt just like a fairyland! I don't have enough words to praise this installation. Tomorrow evening is the last change to experience this ecstatic work of art that is called Rapids.
