Is our pursuit of happiness making us miserable?

An interesting day, despite the dodgy blip, taken on the High Street / Royal Mile. Went to an entertaining talk by the Guardian columnist Oliver Burkeman, who is promoting his new book, 'The Antidote - Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking'. He suggests in it that happiness is something that is 'best observed out of the corner of the eye'. I like that.

Followed it up with a Thai businessman's lunch at the Thai Orchid restaurant. Didn't see any Thai businessmen, just American and Dutch tourists.
