Derelict Sunday - demolition site

They are demolishing Sunset Lodge, which was a Salvation Army home for the elderly.  The site is a huge corner block, and must be worth a couple of million.

I'm not sure I want to share this particular story with you because it shames all South Australians.

The Salvation Army is in a TON of trouble in Victoria and South Australia, for the most appalling crimes against the children in their care from the 1930s to the 1990s.  There is a Royal Commission currently being held, and some of the stories that are coming out are truly horrifying.  These poor children had no-one to turn to, and if they made a complaint, not only was the complaint brushed under the carpet, their lives were made even worse.  Sexual depravity, torture, you name it, it seems to have happened.

It's my guess that the Army is trying to raise money - because the courts will grant the survivors massive compensation.  And there have been apologies by the current Army hierarchy, but saying sorry just isn't enough.
