The Old Toll Bridge, Shoreham

I have to commend Sussex County Council for changing their minds and being human, and allowing these memorial ribbons to remain in place. This bridge over the River Adur is close to the A27 where the Shoreham AirShow plane crashed a few weeks ago. First people placed flowers and when they began to die, replaced them with ribbons which the council said were an environmental hazard and must be removed. Now, provided the families of the bereaved make sure the ribbons stay firmly fixed, they are being allowed to stay while a permanent memorial is being planned. It's a quiet place in spite of the roaring A24 in the distance, and this afternoon the bridge was busy. Ideal place to contemplate and think about your lost loved one. Even without personal messages or  personal connection, it's immensely moving.
