10/48 Flood

A very sad day today as our city underwent flooding when 10 inches of rain fell within 48 hours.

-It took me an hour to get to the hospital and an hour to get home, just to zig-zag my way through the closed roads.
-We were fortunate to not have any water reach our home, despite the creek behind the back yard which is typically 4-6' wide expanding to ~100' wide. Close call.
-Several of the barnyard animals at our zoo succumbed to the torrential rains; a polar bear and seal flooded right out of the zoo and were eventually recovered.
-Estimated damages are over 100 million dollars.

From a photography standpoint, what a bummer to have my zoom lens out of commission. The many photos posted on the internet and Facebook show the amazing devastation.

It will be a long recovery.
