Western Pennsylvania Vacation......

Day 8.  And final day.

We awoke early today as this is our final day here at Treasure Lake.  After breakfast we packed up the car and said our goodbyes to the chippies and squirrels.  I have to admit to getting a little choked up about leaving the cute little chippy in my extra behind.  I wished him a long happy life and left him lots of nuts and seeds to help him through the long cold winter (as we left it started to snow).  I hope the next resident of our condo is as generous with the nuts and seeds as we have been.

As there was no real rush to get home and the drive was not overly long we decided to stop at a few places along the way.

Our first detour was at Bald Eagle State Park in Howard, Pennsylvania in the hopes of seeing some bald eagles.  Unfortunately, there was a Punkin’ Chunkin’  (translation: pumpkin chunking) festival going on and we couldn’t get into the park without having to wait in a long line of cars!!  So we were on our way after a quick potty break.

As we drove toward home we also passed by Hickory Run State Park and decided to check it out.  One of the things to do there is visit the Boulder Field. So we did as evidenced by my photo.  Here is R standing in the field of boulders.  We tried to walk out a little ways into the boulder field but it’s not as easy as you would think.

After this quick stop it was onto to home.  We arrived by 4:00 pm to some very happy kitties!
