No mandate to slash and burn!

From 7.30am this morning activists from a rang of campaigning groups gathered outside County Hall in Norwich where the Policy and Resources Committee would be meeting later that morning to agree final proposals on cuts to put forward for public consultation. 25% cuts are being proposed to essential services and Norwich People's Assembly, who called the demonstration, say "Enough is enough - we need to look at a different way forward before services are totally destroyed. We will urge NCC to join with other like-minded councils throughout the UK and work with the Local Government Association to unite against implementation of more cuts which will damage communities and penalise once again the most vulnerable in our society.  Once these services are gone, they are gone - we have a voice and we should use it! "

I was only able to join the demonstration from 7.30am to 8.15 as I had to be in work for 9am so the photos you see here were taken during that time only.

Other groups joining the demonstration included the Fire Brigade Union Norfolk, Norwich Claimants Union, UNISON, Equal Lives, Disabled People Against the Cuts (Norfolk).
