Drop Scones (aka Scotch Pancakes)

Ella woke me at 2 am. She was upset by having a blocked nose, but settled down back to sleep. More than I did of course. (Her mum and Nathaniel sleep upstairs, while Ella has the downstairs bedroom beside ours so I listen out for her). I was still awake at 4.30 and then Ella came in to have a snuggle at 6.30am.

However we soon perked up - me after a cup of tea, and Ella after two bowls of muesli with blueberries and yogurt. Nathaniel decided he'd have muesli too, so it was a healthy breakfast. Later one of Ella's little friends arrived with her mum and baby sister. Ella wanted to show her friend her camp in the woods and the hole she decided Brock the badger lived in.

We had smoked salmon and cream cheese on bagels for lunch. While Nathaniel had a nap Ella and I made some drop scones. These are sometimes called Scotch pancakes. We made a thick batter with flour, egg, a teaspoon of sugar and milk. Then it got spooned onto a griddle to brown and rise. We flipped them over - then ate some and saved some for Nathaniel, Grandad and Mummy.

Later we played in the park and fed the ducks while mummy did her marking. It may be holidays, but teachers still have to work. We are all quite tired now. Mr C is off to make us a G and T as soon as the children are off to bed.
