THE WHITE EGRET COLONY

In the morning Piet Hein and I worked for two hours in the garden.
I have a new scheme and it will be hard work. Pruning the old laurel bushes. The weather excellent, our enthusiasm great, and glad that this first day went well.
After lunch we drove to Meinbrexen. It had been such a long time since we had been there. I was really curious if we would see the waterbirds.
Of course there were. Geese, cormorants, ducks (but not so many) and the colony of white egrets.
We did not want to disturb the birds, but when we walked along the distant side, there suddenly flew many geese with loud noise to the other side, and there the egrets felt disturbed by them and they began to fly also. In the picture you can see the egrets and the geese in the water.
We decided to walk around the gravelpit and I put an extra photo to show the little Island in the middle.
Our walk was just a bit too long, it appeared, especially after the work in the morning. The path we walked was very uneven and we had to be careful not to stumble and fall. However, we both loved the surroundings and will come again, soon perhaps.

My haiku:

Tiptoe does not help
They notice us anyway,
With life-saving ears

And the proverb:

Life is not all beer and skittles.
