Vik

It's been a very long day, but the weather has been very kind - bright sun and stunning sights along the way, including volcanic lakes, the 'ash cloud' volcano from a few years ago and this stunning ridge.

We were supposed to photograph the sunset on the black silt beaches of Vik, but we didn't quite make it: the light on this ridge was sublime and the reflection is caused not by ice or a lake, but rather a thin skim of water on top of black sand.   A golden moon-rise, with a huge full moon was the icing on the cake - but that will take more editing than I have time for tonight.  We have an dawn appointment with that beach tomorrow morning.
