A last (Bollywood) dance in Mumbai...

Mumbai - day 8

Our last day in India and our feelings are ambivalent... Yes, we are looking forwatd to seeing our families again, but our trip here in India has been such an amazing experience that we don't want it to end.

Today we have spent a full school day in the Worli school. We started with a guest lecture by Dr. Adiriya Srinivas, COO and economist of Bombay Stock Exchange brokers forum, on India's position in the world economy today.
The lecture was followed by an IB business class with Worli's grade 11 students on how culture influences business strategy and decisions - with examples: Mc Donalds different food options in different countries; similarities and differences in how an NGO works compared to a business and finally a comparison between American and Indian Coca Cola advertisements.

After a short break, an IB English lesson on the power of language so students understand how English language works to express power relations and ideology.
The lesson concluded with an activity where mixed groups of students analysed a text to study how linguistic feature are used to persuade the audience. The groups then reported back to each other.
As the students remarked: this felt like a real school morning...

After lunch we closed off the official part of the program. However, there was one more thing to finish... getting all our video and photo materials to Shweta of Purple People Labs. They are going to help edit the materials and make it into a short movie/documentary of our trip to India. Shweta also conducted/recorded some final interviews with the students to be included in the film. We are hoping to premiere the movie on November 17th on the parent event.

This evening we have already said goodbye to Pal and Vruksha who will continue their stay with family. The rest of us is packing and preparing to leave to the airport. We have already checked in - thanks to mr. Sunil and the Worli staff. Planned boarding time is 1.20 am, with a scheduled arrival before 8 am Brussels time.
