Eavesdropping!

The sun shone gloriously today, so I packed the camera bag and nipped out to Kelmscott Manor, the former home of William Morris and his family.

It was very busy, which I would normally hate but today I was amused by some of the people that I encountered. As it was lunchtime, I decided to have a bowl of soup. The large, wooden door to the restaurant was closed with a sign on the door asking people to keep it closed to retain the warmth.  Two well dressed and well spoken ladies entered whilst I was eating my soup. One turned to the other and said, 'How lovely and warm it is in here'....then promptly left the door wide open!

Shortly afterwards, a elderly, disabled lady came in. She ordered food but was unable to carry the tray, due to her disabilities. I could hear her telling the cashier that someone would come and get it for her and off she went, very slowly, to wait outside. A young woman then entered the restaurant, wondering where the lady had gone and asking for the tray of food. The cashier was very helpful, giving her the tray and telling her that the lady had just left, "limping to the garden!!''

This beautiful window is in a room in the 'eaves' of the house and I particularly love the rustic shutters.
