The Angel Inn

The morning dawned bright and sunny in Corbridge and I decided to head out for a quick run round a loop I have been using since we first started coming here almost 20 years ago. The sun was shining on the Angel Inn, which started life as a coaching Inn in 1726, and I decided to make it my blip for the day.

The Angel holds many happy memories for us as we often dined here when we came with our children and stayed across the road in the Riverside Guest House. We still come with our friends and their children, but it depends on how the inn is performing. Like similar establishments, it has changed hands a few times over the last 20 years and the quality of the food and standard of fabric and staff has varied a lot. The jury is still out on its current owners, so we ate elsewhere last night!

Now back in Renfrew and about to head out and meet up with a couple of friends and former work colleagues. It is good to catch up with work stories when you are retired!

Seems a bit odd staying in a hotel in Renfrew after having lived here for 35 years, although there are some advantages. For one thing the bills are much smaller and I also don't have to cut the grass in the rain!
