Surveying experience day

Teaching surveying to students in the classroom is very difficult. They rarely understand the principles of levelling and setting out. The only way they really grasp it is by doing it, so each year at around this time we arrange a couple of surveying experience days at our Harrow campus. Today we had about sixty students up at Harrow doing levelling and setting out exercises. It's great to see lights coming on inside their heads when they finally understand the process and the theory behind it.
