At the Bloody Tower

Today I took a quick trip to the Tower of London this morning before going to a play this afternoon.  A suitable location for a Halloween trip out!!!

The main picture is of some skulls in the shop, and the extra is of the memorial to those executed on the site (suitably edited!).  Execution in the Tower was the 'privilege' of those of high rank.  The most famous executions were probably those of the three Queens - Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard, and Lady Jane Grey who was only 16.

The play was excellent, it was The Winter's Tale performed by Kenneth Branagh's new theatre company.  There were many good performances apart from Ken, including those of Dame Judi Dench, Tom Bateman (Jeckyll and Hyde), Jessie Buckley and Miranda Raison.  I've always wanted to see Dame Judi and Kenneth Branagh perform Shakespeare so I was in seventh heaven!
