Is my tail straight?

A week of worries, expense, coughing and rubber legs left me with no time or inclination for photos or diaries. I didn’t even feel like coming up to the hills today, but HH had a meeting this afternoon, and there’s a good place for buying floor tiles on the way, so we shut the door on the chaos and set off.

It’s yet another long weekend (Finados, or the Day of the Dead, when everyone visits the graves of family and friends, is on Monday), so there was a long queue for the toll road, but otherwise we had a good run – and no roadworks on the hill, thank goodness. We met a young Brazilian friend at the club (recently married to a Scotsman) and found it packed with a cheerful crowd, all lunching after a tournament sponsored by the local doctors. Valerio, our friendly barman, now caterer, put on a splendid meal and luckily had plenty in reserve, as the consumption was phenomenal. So good to see the club busy, it has been deserted far too often of late.

It was a beautiful afternoon. There has been plenty of much-needed rain, but the sun came out and it was really hot when I wandered round with the camera after HH had gone off to his meeting and our friend had gone home.

Feeling dead tired by the time we got home, so just car-walked the dogs, to defuse them a bit, and then chewed on some pizza while I blundered about online till I managed to book our tickets to the UK in December. I spent ages on it before leaving Rio this morning, but the process always stalled on confirmation of the credit card details. Very frustrating. Anyway, the die is now cast. Next step, get ourselves back into shape so we don’t scare the family.

I’ve only just remembered that it’s Halloween…
