Halloween House On The Corner

Happy Halloween from Penns Valley, Pennsylvania!
I have been passing by this "Halloween House" several times a week while on my nightly mini road trip with my boy, King. I've been meaning to photograph it but circumstances just haven't been favorable for doing so until tonight. I made a point of getting there just as dusk was settling in, pulled over and parked the car, jumped out, snapped a couple of pics and then we were on our way to nearby Millheim to see what was happening there.
I was really quite pleasantly surprised by the huge turnout of Trick-Or-Treaters in this small central Pennsylvania village and I quickly discovered that Penn Street seemed to be the nucleus of the evening's festivities.
It was fun seeing all the costumes and experiencing a bit of the excitement and happy energy of the evening but as the dog seemed to be a bit freaked out by all the creatures great and small occupying the normally quiet street, I decided to turn and head for home where we would once again be nestled safe and sound in our little gremlin-free abode.

I dare you all to go into
The Haunted House on Howlin’ Hill,
Where squiggly things with yellow eyes
Peek past the wormy window sill.
We’ll creep into the moonlit yard,
Where weeds reach out like fingers,
And through the rotted old front door
A-squeakin’ on it hinges,
Down the dark and whisperin’ hall,
Past the musty study,
Up the windin’ staircase--
Don’t step on the step that’s bloody--
Through the secret panel
To the bedroom where we’ll slide in
To the ragged cobweb dusty bed
Ten people must have died in.
And the bats will screech,
And the spirits will scream,
And the thunder will crash
Like a horrible dream,
And we’ll sing with the zombies
And dance with the dead.
And howl at the ghost
With the axe in his head,
And--come to think of it what do you say
We go get some ice cream instead?
