The Landing

We have had a long exciting day here in New Zealand. It started before 5.am when the final of the Rugby World Cup kicked off. It was a very exciting game to watch with our All Blacks beating the Wallabies 34 - 17. Then I and three photographer friends drove one and a half hours to Okiwi Bay in the Marlborough Sounds. There we watched a combined forces rehearsal for Exercise Southern Katipo. Landing craft came into the bay with personnel and various types of vehicles. It provided great interest for residents and marvelous photographic opportunities for our little group. The whole Exercise will be fascinating to follow throughout November. Over 2000 military personnel and civilians will be involved in several elaborate and complex scenarios being played out in different locations in the top of the South Island. Security issues prevent us from posting close-up images of individuals. But, just privately, I captured some wonderful portraits of individuals and action. However we respect the security issues and appreciate the privilege of being permitted to photograph today's activities.
