Black witches' butter

A very foggy  morning on the reserve seemed like appropriate conditions to find this nice big exidia glandulosa. Its growing on fallen silver birch rather than hazel or oak which it normally chooses. Commonly know as Black Witches' Butter because of its colour and greasy surface appearance.
