The Executive Office of the University of the Highlands and Islands is based in what was once the Inverness Royal Infirmary. We like to remember that the hospital was built with money raised by public subscription, but this memorial on the wall as you enter the building reminds us that at least some of that money was acquired through the profits of the slave trade. Good to remember these things sometimes.
