Fog free Edinburgh

As I left the house before dawn, for an early morning voluntary work shift,  Venus and Saturn were shining brightly in the lightening eastern sky.

Later we walked round The Western Harbour, Leith which turned out to be a five mile circuit and enjoyed the balmy temperatures and the very clear sunny visibility.

A busy working week awaits and I hope the fog that is lurking around the Borders does not drift too far north overnight as I have another early start in the morning.

This view shows the lighthouse at Newhaven harbour. Newhaven is really an extension of Leith Docks in the days when the commercial shipping all went there and the fishing fleet used Newhaven.  Today, when some of the so called Superliners call at Leith, but have to anchor off shore in the deeper water, Newhaven is used as the boating port for these cruise passengers.
