Migrant in Moscow

Mural

A restored Soviet era mural in Sokolniki Park.  Amazing skill in the way in which the boy's expression has been created in tiles (the full mural is today's second blip).   Sokolniki Park (north east in Moscow) was a hunting ground for the nobility from the VII th century onwards, and in particular those hunting with falcons ("sokol" is the Russian word for falcon).

The park was also the site of the infamous Kitchen Debate between Nikita Khrushchev and vice-president Richard Nixon in 1959, as well as the inspiration for Isaac Levitan's "Autumn Day" painted in 1879.  Not that much has changed.
