An ode to summer

Farewell old friend
Your time has come,
And where you must now shine
I can no longer follow.
You touched my brow
And healed my soul,
Guiding my feet
In this greenest of lands.
Yet now must the dark of winter prevail,
It's hold take grip of natures frame
As leaf turns to dust
And dust to the northern winds.
Soon enough, fair spring will blossom
And herald your return with fanfare bright;
As day's stretch out with brighter light
And winters hold be cast to night.
