'Snapshot'

The Dutch word for 'snapshot' is 'kiekje' and today I discovered the origine.

There was a Dutch photo pioneer in the city of Leiden called Israël David Kiek (1811 - 1899) who became reknowned for making casual photos, called 'kiekjes' due to his surname.

In 1990 the city council of Leiden decided to commission Norman Beierle and Hester Keijser to create this stainless steel camera  sculpture on a tripod as a hommage to this Artist of Leiden.
