New arrival in Bray Harbour.

I first saw him/her yesterday. He was being chased by five hundred seagulls (slight exaggeration) because he had got a choice piece of bread in their territory. I knew nothing about mallard ducks so I Googled it. I saw this website 21 facts about Mallards.

I was horrified when I read fact number 3.

3. Mallard remain a popular sporting bird: they can be shot inland from 1 September to 31 January.
This is a UK site so I am not sure if it applies in Ireland.

I immediately though of Cecil. whose killer was of American extraction.
