BY THE DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT

(Back blip): At last dawn is getting late enough for me and my lazy ways to be able to catch it occasionally. I had to be up early to drive down to Surrey to see my Mum and let her know about my forthcoming surgery. I didn't want just to phone because I wanted her to see me looking fit and well. I got there and told her, explained the details and then she told me off for not letting her know what time I was going to arrive so that she could have prepared a better lunch. She's so pragmatic and practical and unfazed by most things. No fuss, no drama. That's the way.
