Canals

Suzhou is a city filled with canals. In the newer parts of Suzhou, you can the roads crisscrossed with canals everywhere you turn. They are often lined with manicured trees and footpaths or apartment complexes.

In the older parts of Suzhou, you'll find just as many canals but these are lined with older streets and older houses. You'll find canals running down the middle of streets and hidden behind buildings. It is an adventure just to walk through downtown Suzhou and walk along canals which have been there for hundreds of years.
