Geissler tubes

I went to a fascinating lecture today at the Science Museum. It was all about glass and based on their extensive holdings. And their extensive holdings are truly extensive.

The blip is of a series of Geissler tubes which, among other very useful things, were eventually responsible for neon lights. And they were hand blown. All I can say is "HOW?"
