Abstract Thursday: Spanish Moss

I went to the National Arboretum with blipper WRPerry today.  Unfortunately it was quite overcast and all of my shots of the beautiful old Capitol columns just didn’t look right without a nice sky.  We did, however, come across some Spanish Moss on a tree which is a very unusual thing to see in our area of the country.  It was perfect for Abstract Thursday.

I have added a couple of extra shots that include the columns and of course, WRPerry.  That’s the risk of a blipmeet…you  just might get blipped.

The columns were part of the U.S. Capitol from 1825 until 1958 when they were declared too fragile to support the newly expanded dome and an extended east portico.  They were placed in storage until 1988 when they were erected at the National Arboretum.
