Wearing red

I have heard that ladies are meant to wear their poppies on their right side, tilted towards 11 o'clock to represent 11/11. Can anyone in the know confirm this?

This poppy was made by a girl in one of my placement schools last year. Lovely idea both to support our troops and pupils' creativity at the same time.
