Hawkshead at Night

We were lucky to get a window in the weather today at the orienteering on Simpson's Ground.  It was a middle distance race which basically means a lot of controls in a short time so lots of switchbacking and serious focus on the map and bearings.  I was pleased to finish 14th out of 66 although pal Marcia still took just over a minute out of me!

I hung around to try out the BIG lens on incoming runners for half an hour then we drove back to Hawkshead in the rain, crossing Windermere via the ferry which is always a treat.  We've been out in to the village for our dinner at the Sun Inn again and emerged just as folks were returning from the Bonfire and fireworks.  Now to relax!
