Frost on Lamb's Ear

Although it is quite cold at night, the days have been dawning clear and sunny, so this morning we decided to drive the four miles o the top of the narrow, winding road behind our house to the Hood Mountain Regional Park. We were in search of a nice off leash walk for Ozzie and were also curious as to how much water we would find in the Santa Rosa Creek near its source. The answer was precious little (see extra). This same creek is across the road from us, where it contains even less water.

It is supposed to rain tonight, so our fingers are crossed. Last week's rain seemed enough to green up the hills a little, but perhaps everything is so dry that it will take more than one small weather system to produce results. (second extra).

The sun has gone down now, and Ozzie and I are on the couch by the fire while OilMan does his puzzle on the table behind us. I'm about to make a pot of Pasta Rustica (a recipe from an ole Magnolia Street neighbor) for dinner. Being all couried in by the fire is one nice benefit to early darkness and chilly weather.
