We Will Remember Them.

Arranged the poppies on our lovely old saxon cross for this year's remembrance service. Always an emotional time.

REMEMBRANCE.  1914-18
Peace now enfolds the fields,
where mud and blood
and bits of heroes
once mixed with the tears of
terrified
boys.
Here, where young men bled
their lives away,
now old men come
to mourn.

The soughing wind still sweeps away
the echoes of the bugles,
the cries of the dying,
lying
shattered, in the mud.
And the stench and the noise of bloody battle
are superseded by the song
of a skylark, soaring high
over the blood red poppies,

in Flanders fields.
