Remembrance Sunday

This is actually an old shot of Mr Tbays father surrounded by his granchildren on Remembrance Sunday in 2010.  Had he and so many like him not fought in a terrible war this picture would have been very different.

Grandpa died in 2013, and like so many of his generation  he never talked about the war. He was a Royal Marine but other than that, and the medals we have, we know very little about what he did. However  at some stage I will send away for his war records and we will then at last see what and where he was.

He was lucky and returned. So many young men did not.

The tumult and the shouting dies—
The Captains and the Kings depart—
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
An humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

Lest we forget ...........................
