Albert

This a recently installed statue to commemorate Albert Edward McKenzie, a young man from Bermondsey, who was a sailor in the First World War and earned the Victoria Cross for his actions at Zeebrugge in 1918.
Although he survived the fighting, he very sadly died in the Spanish flu outbreak just before the war ended.
