Sitting by The Shore

Anybody familiar with The Shore is bound to recognise this view, if you stroll along to the end in front of Malmaison you'll come across this gentleman sitting on a bench, late at night when it is dark it is quite easy to mistake this statue for an actual person. It is also a favourite photo opportunity among passing tourists, who can often be seen posing on the bench.

Sandy Irvine Robertson OBE (1942-1999) was a wine merchant, charity promoter and founder of the Scottish Business Achievements Awards Trust. After his premature death, his friends commissioned a bronze statue on the waterfront at Leith. It was sculpted by Lucy Poett.
