Maybe someone once met someone who said they were bored, with nothing to do. Given more to do, more varied, with more problems to solve, they were happier. Having heard the word 'extrapolate' somewhere (possibly the same place they misheard about 'absorbing') it was mistakenly deduced that by supplying more tasks, reducing the information surrounding them and reducing the time available would continue to increase the happiness.
