Hurricane Clean-up

Manzanillo to Puerto Vallarta, a drive through the heart of Hurricane Patricia's landfall. It has been two and half weeks since the strongest hurricane ever in the north Pacific hit the coast of Mexico just north of Manzanillo, yet the residents of that area are still recovering from the devastation. Many of the small towns out in the country were completely destroyed - no roofs left, no power poles standing, downed trees and limbs everywhere. Other, larger areas, were working hard to recover. Cihuatlán is one such town. Every street in this fairly large town showed remnants of Patricia. Sand and dirt were everywhere and the townsfolk were cleaning it up one wheelbarrow at a time (barely visible on the far left of this shot). This crew was working along the main highway, sweeping, shoveling, and transporting tons and tons of dried mud so the street would once again be passable. There was a lot of discussion about how the big cities of Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta were lucky the hurricane hit some where else, and while that is certainly true for them, I'm sure these poor people don't share such sentiment.
